Here are some tips for inshore fishing referencing other posts on this website.
Use a 7' or 7'6"' pole that can handle 1/16 to 1oz weights with a 2500 or 3000 reel loaded with 10lb test braid. I usually have several setup with me rigged with different lures or rigs so that I can quickly change from one to the other. For natural bait, I will use a carolina rig, freeline, or add a split shot to a freeline to get it to the bottom. 2/0 or 3/0 circle hooks tend to be my standard. For lure fishing the paddletail and shrimp imitations are my favorite but you will see several other options on the lure page.
Fishing structure is ideal. Structure is any sort of change. It could be objects such as jetties, docks, other man made strucutres or mangroves, grasslines, or oyster bars. It can also be topographical, such holes. In the smaller creeks you find holes on most of the bends. Watch for eddies forming or other observable current changes. Sometimes these can be indicators of structure. Predator fish will stalk these areas where they can sit in the calmer zones waiting for food to be swept by in the faster current zones.
